Do you sign NDAs for confidential projects?

Yes, we are fully able to sign NDAs for all confidential projects. We understand confidentiality is critical for prototype and product development. We accept your standard NDA template, and we can also provide our official NDA document for your review. All design files, project information and product details will be strictly protected.

How long will I wait for a quotation?

In most cases, we will send you a quotation within a couple of working days upon receipt of your RFQ. We will notify you promptly if any quotation delay occurs.

What type of design files does Best Prototypes accept for quoting?

To provide you with an accurate and timely quotation, we accept 3D CAD files in STP, STEP, IGS and STL formats. 2D engineering drawings with dimensional requirements shall be submitted in PDF format. Complete manufacturing specifications should be included within these technical documents.

Can I use my own material for production?

Yes. We can process customer-supplied materials, provided they are compatible with our production equipment.

How does Best Prototypes compare to other suppliers on price?

Direct price comparison can be complicated. Generally, our pricing for plastic injection mold tools and CNC machined/turned components is 25%–45% lower than suppliers located in North America and Europe. Compared with other Chinese manufacturers, we do not compete purely on price. Instead, we deliver superior quality, reliable service, fast response and professional manufacturing outcomes.

Are lead times in working days or calendar days?

All quoted lead times are calculated in calendar days. In accordance with our Terms and Conditions, production lead time starts only after DFM (Design for Manufacturability) review is finalized and confirmed, and formal production commences.

How quickly can I get my parts?

High-quality prototypes and components can be produced in as little as two weeks when complete 2D drawings and 3D CAD models are provided. More complex parts requiring surface treatment or other special processing will require a longer timeline. Please request a quotation for project-specific lead time estimates. Most of our orders are shipped by air freight, which takes several days for delivery from China to Europe or North America.

When should I choose CNC Machining Services?

Machined components retain the inherent material properties of your selected stock. We produce parts machined from solid plastic and metal blanks within consistent lead times. We perform milling and turning to manufacture low-volume orders rapidly. Typical batch sizes range from 1 to 200 pieces, with production lead times of 1–3 business days. We supply product developers with parts machined from engineering-grade materials, suitable for functional testing or end-use applications. While CNC machining costs more than plastic 3D printing, it is the most cost-effective solution for metal visual prototypes, considering the high expenses of metal 3D printing and metal casting.

When should I choose 3D printing Services?

We deploy a full range of 3D printing technologies to fabricate your components. Compared with CNC machining, 3D printing delivers faster turnaround and better cost efficiency for quantities ranging from single pieces to larger batches. Thanks to its speed, affordability and design flexibility, 3D printing has become the standard method for producing one-off visual prototypes. Printed parts sometimes have limited structural strength and impact resistance, yet this drawback is negligible for purely visual mock-ups.

When should I choose Vacuum Casting Services?

Vacuum casting enables the production of high-fidelity prototypes and low-volume parts using low-cost silicone molds. Components reproduced via this method feature excellent surface details and accurately replicate every feature of the original master pattern.

What type of surface finishes does Best Prototypes provide?

We offer an extensive selection of post-processing finishing options to achieve nearly any visual and tactile requirement for your parts. Our service scope includes metal surface treatments, texture etching for plastic injection mold inserts, painting for metals and plastics, plus many other custom finishes. What is the mold life for a silicon mold?

Silicone mold service life depends directly on the geometric complexity of cast components. In general, one silicone mold can produce 12–15 parts before surface quality begins to degrade. Simple-shaped parts may allow up to 20 castings per mold. In contrast, high-spec applications such as transparent or intricately detailed components limit output to only 10–12 castings per silicone mold.

Does Best Prototypes insure delivered goods?

We do not provide cargo insurance for shipments. You may arrange your own insurance coverage if required.

How much import duty will I need to pay for my goods?

Import duty rates differ greatly by destination country and product category, so we cannot provide a fixed figure. Nearly all nations apply Harmonized System (HS) codes to classify commercial goods for customs clearance. For Australian buyers, the updated CHAFTA agreement enables phased duty-free import eligibility. We can offer supporting documents for your customs declaration.

What are Best Prototypes's shipping terms?

Our default Incoterms for rapid prototyping and mass production orders are EXW (Ex Works). Under EXW, the buyer takes full responsibility for freight, customs clearance and all related charges once goods leave our facility. For express delivery options, we adopt DAP (Delivered At Place). The buyer shall settle all import taxes and duties upon arrival at the destination. Other trade terms can be negotiated upon request.

Can my company get credit with Best Prototypes?

New rapid prototyping clients are required to make full advance payment for the first three orders. After successful cooperation, we can review applications for net 30 credit terms.For all tooling orders, a 50% deposit shall be paid upon order confirmation, 30% payment is due upon completion of tooling design, and the remaining 20% balance shall be settled after the first article samples are ready.
